There’s nothing that rivals the amount of joy I felt when I first became a mom. However, I remember all too well how some days felt longer than others. I quickly realized that getting out of the house, even for short periods of time, while establishing new routines (that served me and my baby), was the key to helping me on my motherhood journey. Weekly outings allowed me to feel like myself while also adding fun activities to my daily routine. I quickly learned my way around Minneapolis, and these 5 places to go with infants were my favorites.
Places to go with Infants in Minneapolis
1. Amma Parenting
I can’t say enough wonderful things about Amma Parenting. Attending their classes during my early days of parenting became a lifeline for me. I learned so many practical skills about motherhood. But I also experienced connecting to other moms at the very same stage of their parenting journey. I began to look forward to attending these classes every week, where speaking openly about the joys and struggles of parenting was discussed in a way that felt embracing.
2. Best Coffee Shops in Minneapolis
There’s a common cliche about moms treating themselves to take-out coffee, and I know all too well how soulful a warm cup of your favorite drink can feel. Coffee shops in Minneapolis are great places to go with infants (providing they are child-friendly, of course). It allows you to stop and take a moment for yourself as a mom, but also for your baby to take in new sights and sounds. 3. Barre3 Edina
Once I received the all clear from my doctor, heading back to Barre3 Edina was at the top of my list. I craved the movement needed to support my mind and body. With my daughter safe in childcare (courtesy of Barre3 Edina!), I had the peace of mind needed to see the familiar faces I had come to love while recharging my own batteries and focusing on my health.
4. Minneapolis Mom Groups
Weekly Minneapolis Mom Groups and community meetups are some of the best-kept local secrets. Finding a group of moms who are walking a similar path as you will allow you to connect and gain support in ways you didn’t even know possible. I personally loved attending ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education). They offer classes for infants from birth to 15 months as well as other areas of early childhood focus, for all families.
5. Galleria Edina
Rain, snow, and heat are big deterrents when trying to find places to go with infants in Minneapolis. By far, one of the easiest ways to get out of the house, while being protected from the elements, is to enjoy a walk around the Galleria. Whether you are window shopping or trying to work in more movement during your day, the Galleria is a great place to people-watch with your sweet little one safely in their stroller or your favorite baby wearing carrier.
