Thinking about using your home for your newborn session? There are a 3 big things to consider before knowing your home is the perfect location.
Light
Having a big source of natural light is key for a successful in-home newborn session. Most of the photos will be taken within the nursery, master bedroom or living room. So be sure to walk through these rooms to determine the optimal time of day to take advantage of the most natural light.
Style of your home
Do you have an open floor plan with lighter and neutral tones or a home with small windows, darker walls and a closed floor plan? This is considering factor when thinking about an in-home newborn session, as I stated above that natural light is key.

Comfortability
Home is where you feel comfortable and are most relaxed. You may not feel comfortable taking your newborn (7-14 day old) out yet, let alone get yourself and your family out the door in time. That’s all completely normal and I love that I can take that stress away and come to you.
Another factor may be if newborn has a toddler sibling that is shy or nervous around new people. By being in their own home it can be an added comfort during the session. And if you’re looking for photography session tips with a toddler, check out my 4 simple tips to help make the session a breeze.
