I’m so excited to share this sweet in-home newborn session in Saint Paul on today’s blog! This in-home newborn session with a dog was so much fun. Not only did I get to meet a wonderful, easygoing couple, but I got to capture them as first-time parents to a sweet baby girl.

This morning session was so relaxed. The family greeted me warmly from the moment I walked into their home. We started off the morning talking about how they found me since they had just moved to Minnesota. As usual for newborn sessions, we also talked about newfound parenthood, labor and delivery, and all the craziness that comes with welcoming a new baby into the world. When they showed me around their home, I immediately loved the bright and cozy sunroom that they enjoy hanging out in and the nursery. We ultimately used these two rooms for the session.

This newborn session was ideal in so many ways. Their baby girl slept and hung out during the entire session, making my job easy. The parents also did their homework by reading through my newborn guide. I loved that Mom went with a brighter dress that others may not choose for a newborn session, but it totally worked. They were so relaxed – even as first-time parents – and trusted me wholeheartedly. They were open to all my ideas and always made me feel comfortable in their home.

This family was adamant about including their dog in as many photos as possible. He was very cooperative (especially when bribed with treats)! Some of their newborn photos with their dog are my absolute favorites.
