A few weeks ago, my husband and I took a last minute trip to New York City.  We both had a break in our schedule and so we started planning where to go. We usually go to Chicago around Memorial Day with my parents for a bike ride. Ryan’s family comes down to Chicago to visit as well, but this year was a little different. It happened to be Ryan’s 30th birthday so we decided to go a little bit bigger this year. We had so much fun celebrating in one of his favorite big cities.

While we were there, I was lucky enough to photograph an anniversary session in Central Park. Ryan was able to work with a stylist to set up a shoot. We loved being able to explore the first part of the trip together and then do a little work as well. Since Ryan knew another photographer in NY, we were able to visit two studios and spend some time hanging out with some other creatives. We loved our visit to Milk Studios and watching the sunset over New Jersey while we hung out on their rooftop patio. It was a highlight of the trip for sure!

We are looking forward to planning another trip to NYC in the future. There is always something new to do and see!

One on morning we went to the Today show and then headed to Top of the Rock for a 360 degree view of NYC!

Joe Coffee was out go to coffee while staying in the West Village. It was on our way to the train station and had the best cardamom pistachio bread ever!! I am still dreaming about it.

We loved staying in the West Village. It was quite and had such a neighborhood charm that was so warm and welcoming. Also some delicious restaurants!

Freemans Restaurant is always a must when we visit. It is hidden down a alleyway making it a private hidden gem.

One of my favorite roads in the Financial District. We walked out of our hotel one afternoon and got to watch a movie being filmed here!!

Riding in Central Park. Definitely a little harder with Citi Bikes and not our typical road bikes that we own.

Union Station is a great spot for people watching! I love seeing where all the trains are heading to and coming from.

Highline Park is a favorite, but so busy.

Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge. Be sure to start on the Brooklyn side so that way you can see the NYC skyline when crossing the bridge.
