As a Family Photographer in Minneapolis, my days are often filled with such sweet, tender moments. Whether yearly, or a significant event, families mark all kinds of occasions with photoshoots. The loving family featured below were celebrating an exciting new milestone. It was a long-time dream of theirs to build a new home. They dreamt of creating a home where their children could grow together and experience the joys of childhood. Their dream was laid with visions of nightly dinners together and celebrations held under their roof.

With their home finally built, they were eager to mark this significant moment in their lives and asked me to be their family photographer in Minneapolis. I loved the idea of working with them in this brand-new space. Before their memories were made and before they had the time to officially unpack. They hadn’t yet hung curtains or blinds on their windows. But that wide open space, filled with possibilities, and heaps of streaming light, only made their session that much more magical.

Knowing that this family had two sweet littles ones, I wanted to make the session as fun as possible for them. My focus was on creating a space where they could be openly silly, play games, and show off their favorite plushies. Having fun during a photoshoot is such an important aspect of helping children stay engaged and interested. In all honesty, those moments are the ones that bring out the raw emotion and joy in your photos. I know moms and dads want those perfectly posed moments with their children smiling and facing the camera. But sometimes, we have to be open to using a dash of creativity to get those big beaming smiles!

For these two sweet sisters, that meant letting them jump on the bed, ‘fly’ into their parents’ arms, and adventure around their new home. Their laughter was so joyous that it spread to Mom and Dad. As you might imagine, the result was beautiful. Stunning light and sincere smiles filled with love is always my goal as a family photographer in Minneapolis. Cozy outfits and beautiful hair bows brought the look of their photoshoot together, but the fun moments are what made it truly unforgettable.
