When the Budahn Family reached out about family pictures, I couldn’t wait to work with them again. There’s something so special about being able to photograph another photographer’s family. It has been so fun seeing them grow over the year’s and capturing so many special stages of life for them.
I have known the Budahn Family for many years and spent some time photographing weddings with Andrea before she had any children. Now her family has three and I got to dive into their Chaska family pictures and photograph them once again!
When talking to Andrea, her biggest goal was to get a family photo of all five and one with her three kids. She mentioned that anything after that was a bonus. Both of these photos were so easy to capture within just a few short minutes.
She did so well on educating the family about their upcoming session and mentioning to them what photos were going to be so special to her. Having that communication beforehand can often time make the session go smoother with older children. They may even have ideas of family pictures that are special to them!
We took some time walking slowly to our spot at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. This gave the kids time to warm up to me and for everyone to get comfortable.
I absolutely adore the spot we found for their session. It was tucked away so one was around and the light shining through the trees was just perfect. I knew that these Chaska family pictures were going to be amazing.
A few days before the session she sent me a message asking for advice on a few outfits she had picked for the three kids. I gave her my opinion and shared that I had several boards dedicated to wardrobe inspo. I also told her to think about letting the girls pick their favorite – which she ended up doing! The girls looked and felt so comfortable wearing their beautiful dresses that they had selected.
